How the quarter-share works
A quarter is one flat price for a lot of beef — 160 lbs at $10.00 per pound. We keep this in stock, so there's no harvest to wait for.
-
1 · Buy your quarter — $1,600, paid in full
Click Add to Cart and check out for $1,600. That is the whole price: the beef and the butcher's cut-and-wrap, all in. No balance later, no invoice after the weigh-in, nothing to settle at pickup.
-
2 · We pull it from the freezer
This is beef we keep in stock — already cut, wrapped and frozen. There's no cut sheet to fill in, no harvest to wait on and no butcher time. That's the point of buying it this way. Available any time.
-
3 · Nothing more to pay
$1,600 is the whole price — the beef and the cut-and-wrap. No balance invoice, nothing owed at pickup.
-
4 · Pickup at Twin Falls, Burley, Rupert, or Hailey
We'll set up a pickup window — usually within days, since it's already in the freezer. Bring a cooler: a quarter fills 3–4 cubic feet and you'll want it home cold.

What you'll typically take home
Exactly as Spring Lake packs it — this is what a 160 lb quarter contains.
| Category | Typical amount | |
|---|---|---|
| Ground beef | 80 lbs | |
| Steaks & roasts | 80 lbs | |
| Total finished weight | 160 lbs of wrapped, frozen beef | |
Amounts are approximate — the exact assortment of steaks and roasts varies with what is in stock.
Freezer space — plan before you book
A quarter-share fits in:
- · A 7 cu ft chest freezer (the standard "second freezer in the garage" size) with a little room to spare
- · The freezer compartment of two full-size kitchen refrigerators if you stack carefully
- · A 5 cu ft upright, tightly — possible but tight
Won't fit:
- · A standard side-by-side fridge/freezer combo — capacity is roughly 4–5 cu ft of freezer and most of it is already in use
- · The freezer drawer on a French-door fridge
- · A dorm-style mini freezer (~1 cu ft)
A quarter is the smallest share we sell. If even that is more freezer than you have, our 50 lb Bulk Bundle is the closest alternative — same Piedmontese beef, smaller commitment.
Bulk-share FAQ
Is $1,600 really all of it?
Yes. The beef and the butcher's cut-and-wrap are both in that price, paid when you order. There's no balance invoice after the weigh-in and nothing owed to the butcher at pickup. Every animal is sold by the pound at a flat rate, so there are no surprises. (The whole beef works differently: that one starts with a $500 deposit and is tallied once it's weighed.)
Do I choose my own cuts?
Not on this one — that is the trade for skipping the wait. It comes as a set assortment, already cut and frozen. If you want a say in every cut, that is the whole beef, which is ordered ahead with a deposit.
Can I split a quarter with a neighbor or family member?
Yes — plenty of people do. We issue one invoice for the quarter and you sort the split between yourselves. It arrives as one order of pre-packed cuts, so dividing it is just a matter of splitting the boxes.
What's the difference between a quarter and a half?
Scale. A quarter is 160 lbs for $1,600 ($10.00/lb); a half is 320 lbs for $2,880 ($9.00/lb). Both are in stock, already cut and wrapped, and both are picked up in the Magic Valley. Choose on freezer space: a quarter wants 3–4 cubic feet, a half 6–8.
How long does the beef stay good in the freezer?
Vacuum-sealed and kept at 0 °F: ground beef stays best for 4–6 months, steaks and roasts hold up beautifully for 8–12 months, and many people eat well past that with no noticeable quality loss. Plan to work through your quarter in about a year and you'll never see freezer burn.
